A Weoley man – convicted of knife crime after a New Years Day attack in Selly Oak in 2017 – has absconded from an open prison in Derbyshire.
Derbyshire Police are seeking Aidan Morrissey – now 21 – after he left HMP Sudbury on Sunday 17th November.
In February 2017 aged just 18, Morrissey was sentenced to eight years and eight months in prison at Birmingham Crown Court.
His conviction came after a 27 year old man suffered around a dozen stab wounds after coming to the aid of a woman being assaulted by Morrissey in Bristol Road in the early hours of New Years Day.
Morrissey is described as
- White
- 5ft 10ins tall
- grey eyes
- Brown hair
- ’Mom’ tattooed on right arm
Anyone who sees Morrissey is urged not to approach him and to call police immediately.
